How to pick a bedroom layout

Start with the door: keep the area inside its swing clear. Next keep the windows clear, because wardrobes, closets and bookshelves must not block one. Then choose the wardrobe door type. Sliding doors need 24 in in front, hinged doors need 36 in. Last, check that you can reach at least one long side of the bed.

Every plan is drawn with the longer side across the top and north up. The sentence under each plan is what the planner read.
